Randy & Susan - We're fun, easy to work with, and put you at ease so you look great!
In addition to the photography you see on our website, I (Randy) enjoy nature and urban photography in our travels. I enjoyed photography as a hobby since my first "real" camera in high school, but never thought of it as a career possibility until-- that thought changed three years after college, and I attended photography school to pursue that possibility. After a year at my first professional photography job in Washington, DC, I moved on to be the administrative photographer for the Fairfax County Public Schools. Over many years, I photographed everything from classes and activities in the schools to still life photos for magazine covers to visiting dignitaries, U.S. Presidents and other well known people. During those same years, Randy & Susan started I Do Photography Inc. and worked our business in the off hours of my day job. I continue to be excited about photography inside and outside of our business.
Susan's path to photography was from a totally different direction. I(Susan) worked in nursing homes as a social worker and in administration. I also started a clothing ministry at our church. So many people skills are required in these professions. And guess what? They are a key part of our photography business! When we first started the business, I wanted to stay at home with our two children so we began wedding photography. After a long run with weddings, we changed our focus to pets, corporate head shots, high school seniors and families. My mom always said that our lives are a tapestry - all our experiences are woven together to create who we become. I enjoy organizing people and processes as well as creating adventures and memories in a visual format. All parts of our photography business that we share with our clients. Everything comes together to make sure that your images capture who you are and are displayed artistically in your home.
We believe our job is to provide our clients with an adventure.
Some folks we meet tell us right up front “I HATE having my photo taken”. Some pets are a bit shy - maybe their way of saying the same thing? WE feel that if we create an adventure, a new way of doing things, the subject in front of our lens won’t be thinking about being a subject but more about having a good time.
We believe this adventure will help us capture moments.
Usually people hire a photographer to document an occasion or milestone. Graduations, a new job, a new puppy. Even if the portrait session is not a milestone, it will be a memory preserved.
We believe those moments, all added together, tell your story.
All those moments become memories and they are your story to tell. Our goal is to help you tell a part of that story and to preserve it. That might be a wall portrait in canvas or metal or an album with many images that reflects those moments.
We believe in bringing professional tools to every session.
Years of education, seminars and hard work have taught us that the first piece of equipment we need to bring is a heart of service. This enables us to relate to the stories people have to tell. Only then can we properly use the cameras, lighting, backdrops, reflectors and squeaker toys to put our subjects in the best light.
